Volunteer Highlight - Brenda Hendershot

This month we highlight our Treasurer. Brenda lives in Stuart with her husband Jim, son Alex, daughter Jessie, Hobbes the cat, and pups Bella and Honey. Brenda has been blessed to own and operate a home-based medical transcription company for 16 years, which allowed her to be home for her family and over the last 3 years be available to serve LAHIA.

Her interests and hobbies are many, but some of her favorite things to do are gardening, trail riding, traveling and being with family.

LAHIA came into Brenda’s life when she recognized there were many homeless folks in her home town. When Mike decided to start a Saturday cookout back in 5/07, she pitched in with the food and started a small food pantry shortly after. She feels so blessed to be a part of something so important and obviously needed in south Stuart.

Brenda’s vision for LAHIA matches Mike’s, Larry’s and the other board members in that we are praying for a suitable building that allows us to expand our service to accommodate the growing number of folks in need. The ultimate goal, however, is to introduce folks to the redeeming love of Christ and encourage them to make life-changing decisions that will promote a healthy lifestyle and allow them to focus on taking the message of Christ’s love further into their communities.
