Open House for Love and Hope in Action

Love and Hope in Action (LAHIA) has moved. To celebrate the move to this new location, an OPEN HOUSE will be held Saturday, November 12, from 4-8 pm and the public is cordially invited to attend and receive a tour of the facilities. For further information you may call the office at 772-781-7002.

Love and Hope in Action, Inc., (LAHIA) is a charity that has been ministering to the needs of the homeless and unemployed for the past 4 years in the Stuart area. During this time they have been providing meals 6 days a week, clothing and toiletries, along with assisting in finding employment, housing and meeting medical needs.

Their facilities have been limited in the past to the kindness of two churches in the area, who opened their doors to provide space to meet the needs noted above.

LAHIA is happy to announce that the former Egret Pond facility at 1760 Salerno Road is now their new home. Located on two acres, the 5,500 sq. ft. modern facility is just what was needed to meet the needs of those they serve. They now can offer assistance and training to the needy to an even greater extent than they have in the past, because of the prior limited space that was available.

The first meal was served on Labor Day and they are now on a regular schedule six days a week. Operating hours are Monday-Friday 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Fundraiser a Huge Success!

MANY THANKS to all who helped make LAHIA's first fundraiser a success! Approximately 450 people joined us at Halpatiokee Park on Saturday, April 16. A HUGE thank you to Carrabba's of Stuart for graciously donating the meal, to Sonny's BBQ and Chili's for donating the drinks, and to Lowe’s, Bono’s, Red Lobster and Pei Wei for raffle items. And to all of you who purchased tickets -- we could not have done it without you! Thank you so much for your support and generosity! Approximately $4800 was raised to further the ministries of LAHIA.

The crowd was entertained by performances by His Diamonds in the Rough, the Frampton Family, Turning Point Band, In Hymn Band, and the symphonic orchestra of Hobe Sound Christian Academy. We were very pleased to have Representative William Synder share with us the importance of volunteer activities and community involvement.

Virtual Thrift Store

Print PDF

Due to the overwhelming amount of donated furniture, household items, clothing, bedding, etc and the lack of funds for an appropriate building to house it and/or set up as a thrift store, one of our volunteers has posted pictures and ads of some of the better items on treasure.craigslist.org in order to keep things moving.

Consider checking out our selection before you spend big money at other shops, remembering that the profits from all sales provide a revenue for us to keep the pantry shelves full for our growing number of clients.

We currently have a large selection of brand new Christmas decorations, some unopened toys and nice clothing still with tags.

Our thrift selection includes couches, love seats, swivel chairs, table/chair sets, decorative wall mirrors, wall units, coffee pots, dishes, and of course videos and books.

Call Ken for info and/or an appointment time to look at what is available (772-349-0634). New items brought in every week!
